We wasted no time in booking our first trip to another country since moving to Singapore! Ryan’s friend, Tyler, was coming from Tokyo and after exploring Singapore with him for a couple of days, we all decided to head to Malaysia for the weekend. Although we got in Friday night and headed back Sunday, we managed to see the colorful Batu Caves, visit the Petronas Towers, and take a bus ride to Melaka for the afternoon during our quick trip.
The first night, we went out for a late dinner and dropped by PS150 for a delicious craft cocktail, speakeasy style.
The next morning, we took a 20-min cab ride outside of Kuala Lumpur to the Batu Caves. It is the site of a Hindu temple and shrine, and on any given day, you can spot no less than 40 bloggers trying to get that perfect shot of the colorful staircase.
That afternoon, we hopped on a bus to Melaka with no idea what the attractions were or a scheduled plan. We ended up enjoying some beer at a riverside bar, and checking out the local food and crafts on Jonker Walk.
Sunday morning, we walked across the street from our hotel to the Petronas Towers for a view of Kuala Lumpur.
Not feeling motivated to see anything else in particular, we found a cheap massage place and spent the remainder of the day there before heading back to the airport. It ended up being a relaxing weekend that wasn’t rushed, and I’m sure it won’t be the last time we hop over to Malaysia!
